Product Activation

In most cases you should be able to activate your license through the product's License Manager (or Activation Wizard on older versions). In cases where you cannot activate due to network firewalls and other security-related issues, the links on the page will allow you to activate your evaluation, purchased, fixed or node-locked license of MAPublisher® (versions 6.x and newer) and Geographic Imager® online.

If you are a floating license user and need to obtain the license file for the server, please send an email to activation@avenza.com. In your email, include the product, version, Machine ID and IP address or hostname of the server. For more information, detailed instructions are found in the documentation that came with your floating license purchase.

Note: If you have previously canceled a MAPublisher 8.x or Geographic Imager 3.x evaluation, contact us to have your evaluation re-enabled.

Activate MAPublisher 8.x or Geographic Imager 3.x

Move a license to another computer

License rehostings are free of charge for licenses under current maintenance. A $25 USD administrative fee applies to rehosting all non-maintenance licenses. To move a previously activated license to a new computer, use the following steps:

1. Uninstall MAPublisher or Geographic Imager from the current computer.
2. Install MAPublisher or Geographic Imager on the new computer.
3. Obtain the machine ID for the new computer. The machine ID may be found as follows:

   MAPublisher 8.x: Open Adobe Illustrator on the new computer and choose Help > MAPublisher Licensing > License Management.

   MAPublisher 7.x: Open Adobe Illustrator on the new computer and choose Help > MAP Security > Machine ID to obtain the machine ID.

   MAPublisher 6.x: Open Adobe Illustrator on the new computer and when the MAPublisher Activation Wizard appears, proceed to the telephone option. Locate the Machine ID in the telephone activation dialog box.

   Geographic Imager 3.x: Open Adobe Photoshop on the new computer. In the Geographic Imager palette options menu (top-right corner) choose License Management.

   Geographic Imager 2.x: Open Adobe Photoshop on the new computer and when the Geographic Imager Activation Wizard appears, choose the I want to activate the software manually using the activate webpage option. Locate the Machine ID in the telephone activation dialog box. If the Activation Wizard does not automatically appear, click the Geographic Imager palette options menu and click Register.

   Geographic Imager 1.x: Open Adobe Photoshop on the new computer and when the Geographic Imager Activation Wizard appears, choose the I want to activate the software by telephone option. Locate the Machine ID in the telephone activation dialog box. If the Activation Wizard does not automatically appear, click the Geographic Imager palette options menu and click Register.

4. Complete the Rehost License form.
