avenza maps welcome screen

Toronto, ON, Canada (April 20, 2022) — Avenza Systems Inc., producers of MAPublisher® cartographic software for Adobe® Illustrator and Geographic Imager® geospatial tools for Adobe Photoshop®, is very pleased to announce that in an accelerated growth effort and to update the brand vision, it has completed an extensive rebranding of Avenza Maps®, its market-leading, award-winning mobile mapping app and digital map store.

At the core of the new branding is an updated logo and improved and modified colour palette to convey the sense of being outdoors, whether for work or play. The rebrand also consists of major design and functionality improvements to enhance the user-centric experience, including an all-new Avenza Maps Map Store both in the app and on the web at www.avenzamaps.com

Fueled by growth in both professional and recreation markets, Avenza has embraced the rapid adoption of its Avenza Maps platform by making the investment and committing to further increasing its recognizable global presence to better reflect the platform’s functionality and use cases. The Avenza Maps platform increases locational awareness and provides a sense of safety and great value to businesses and individuals who access the more advanced mapping tools through subscriptions.

“This is a major milestone for Avenza Maps and is a defining moment in the continuing evolution of the technology and the brand,” said Ted Florence, President of Avenza Systems Inc. “This is a great time to introduce a new direction and design as millions of users around the world make use of mobile maps every day to collect data while working in the field or to navigate back trails during their leisure times.”

The rebranding of the app coincides with the release of a new map store web presence (www.avenzamaps.com) which has been rebuilt from the ground up. Since 2011, the Avenza Maps Map Store, a central iTunes-like marketplace for maps, has changed the landscape of how maps are discovered, distributed and consumed. The platform was quickly adopted by many large mapping agencies, businesses, and organizations as an easy and reliable way to provide digital maps to the large audience of mobile users. Likewise,  millions of map users around the world enjoy the easy and effortless way they can discover, acquire and use maps on their devices with Avenza Maps. The new Map Store includes major improvements to map searchability, categorization, map listings, and user-friendliness.

“We have done a lot of growing this past year and have prioritized additional key features for further development.” says Florence, “The rollout of the new Avenza Maps branding communicates our passion for helping people produce, distribute, and use maps and we’re excited about how this sets the path to even bigger features in the near future.”
